Thustheeyeistooblindaguideofitselftodistinguishbetweenthewarmorcoldtoneofadeep-bluesky;butanothersenseactsasamonitortoitanddoesnoterr。Thecolouroftheleavesinautumnwouldbenothingwithoutthefeelingthataccompaniesit;butitisthatfeelingthatstampsthemonthecanvas,faded,seared,blighted,shrinkingfromthewinter”sflaw,andmakesthesightastrueastouch——
