Everythinghasanend,however;eventhegallopingofdonkeyswill,ceaseintime。TheanimalwhichMr。CymonTuggsbestrode,feeling,sundryuncomfortabletugsatthebit,theintentofwhichhecould,bynomeansdivine,abruptlysidledagainstabrickwall,and,expressedhisuneasinessbygrindingMr。CymonTuggs’slegonthe,roughsurface。Mrs。CaptainWaters’sdonkey,apparentlyunderthe,influenceofsomeplayfulnessofspirit,rushedsuddenly,head,first,intoahedge,anddeclinedtocomeoutagain:,andthe,quadrupedonwhichMissTuggswasmounted,expressedhisdelightat,thishumorousproceedingbyfirmlyplantinghisfore-feetagainst,theground,andkickinguphishind-legsinaveryagile,but,somewhatalarmingmanner。

Thisabruptterminationtotherapidityoftheride,naturally,occasionedsomeconfusion。Boththeladiesindulgedinvehement,screamingforseveralminutes;andMr。CymonTuggs,besides,sustainingintensebodilypain,hadtheadditionalmentalanguish,ofwitnessingtheirdistressingsituation,withouthavingthepower,torescuethem,byreasonofhislegbeingfirmlyscrewedin,betweentheanimalandthewall。Theeffortsoftheboys,however,assistedbytheingeniousexpedientoftwistingthetailofthe,mostrebelliousdonkey,restoredorderinamuchshortertimethan,couldhavereasonablybeenexpected,andthelittlepartyjogged,slowlyontogether。
